Playing an essential role in introducing the ideology, policies, and fundamental values of the parties, strategic platforms have a significant impact on the public opinion of the countries. Attributed as strategic, these platforms show attention to social concerns and help to mobilize public support. In this regard, this study analyses the discourse of the strategic platform of the US Republican Party (GOP), approved in 2024, trying to investigate the way conservative and nationalist ideologies are represented in this document. The main research question is how conservative, nationalist, and anti-globalist ideologies are described in the statement of the GOP. Employing critical discourse analysis (CDA) and van Dijk’s approach, this study illustrates how the GOP, through language and ideology, has been able to strengthen national identity and opposition to globalization and to mobilize public opinion by generating the duality of “us” against “them”. Also, this platform uses concepts such as “America first” to strengthen the sense of solidarity and confront external threats. Findings suggest that the GOP attracts social support by portraying itself as the nation’s saviour and defender of traditional values, thereby legitimizing its conservative ideology in society.
