English

Governments consistently strive to expand their political and economic influence by asserting control over strategic international corridors that pass through their territories. As a result, these corridors often become arenas of geopolitical and geoeconomic rivalry and collaboration among states. Given the complexity and diversity of the geopolitical and geoeconomic forces at play in each corridor project, a wide range of future scenarios can emerge—frequently diverging significantly from the project's original plans. The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) is no exception. In this article, we have answered the question of what are the scenarios facing the iMac Creed in light of geopolitical competition? The findings show identifies the "Abraham Accords," "Noah’s Ark," and "Tower of Babel" as the probable, preferred, and possible scenarios for IMEC, respectively. At present, the “Abraham Accords” scenario appears to be the most plausible trajectory. However, significant changes across six key indicators could shift the outcome toward the “Tower of Babel” scenario. This study employs the Schwartz Global Business Network (GBN) scenario planning methodology to develop and evaluate these futures.
