This article attempts to analyze the challenges and opportunities facing Turkey’s entrance into the EU. This is clear that Turkey should respect the EU criteria for integration into the EU. To achieve this end, Turkey has started reforming some of its policies. It has made a national, regional and international programme for membership into the EU, and is in the. process integrating these programmes. This article verifies the role of Turkey in regional peace efforts, cultural relations, and security issues—all of which are positive points for its membership. However, the challenges of poverty, inflation, population growth and an economic crisis are obstacles to the membership of Turkey in the EU.
