Abstract
Playing an essential role in introducing the ideology, policies, and fundamental values of the parties, strategic platforms have a significant impact on the public opinion of the countries. Attributed as strategic, these platforms show attention to social concerns and help to mobilize public support. In this regard, this study analyses the discourse of the strategic platform of the US Republican Party (GOP), approved in 2024, trying to investigate the way conservative and nationalist ideologies are represented in this document. The main research question is how conservative, nationalist, and anti-globalist ideologies are described in the statement of the GOP. Employing critical discourse analysis (CDA) and van Dijk’s approach, this study illustrates how the GOP, through language and ideology, has been able to strengthen national identity and opposition to globalization and to mobilize public opinion by generating the duality of “us” against “them”. Also, this platform uses concepts such as “America first” to strengthen the sense of solidarity and confront external threats. Findings suggest that the GOP attracts social support by portraying itself as the nation’s saviour and defender of traditional values, thereby legitimizing its conservative ideology in society.

Highlights

Introduction
The setting of political polarities during the last decade in the United States has grown to the point of strength that called for a review of various discourses that the political parties had hitherto adopted. Through documents and electoral platforms, which express nationalist and conservative rhetoric emphatically, the Republican Party wants to detail where its core values are and how it can be supported by conservatives. These are the documents of domestic security, national values, and cultural identity that position the audience as defenders of the nation, thereby establishing a strong stance for the party against cultural and social change.

The core goal of this research is to analyze the representation of conservative, nationalist, and anti-globalization ideologies in the U.S. Republican Party's 2024 platform. Based on this, the most important questions which this research can address would be: How does the Republican Party use language and certain discourses to position its audience as "national heroes"? What values are given as principles? And in what way are the discourses used to consolidate power and gain support?

To do that, the text discusses various theories on ideological power relations, namely: Gramsci, Althusser, Laclau and Mouffe, and realism of international relations. Gramsci's hegemony theory explains how parties dominate over public opinion by using cultural and nationalist values so as to solidify their ideology. Althusser's theory of interpellation shows how the identities of people were shaped in such a way that citizens unconsciously adopted the values of conservatism. Laclau and Mouffe stress the process of structuring an "us" versus "them" dichotomy, which is used by parties to consolidate group identity and mobilize public opinion. Realism theory in international relations underlines the primacy of security and the preservation of power while interpreting the foreign policy behavior of parties through an optic of national interests. Put together, these various theories allow for a far greater understanding of the parties' policies and discourses and how they consolidate their power in society.

Research Methodology

This present research adopts Van Dijk's CDA because it engrosses and tries to unveil both the linguistic and non-linguistic structures that reflect how power and social inequalities are reproduced. According to Van Dijk, discourse, especially that of political texts, reproduction power and the audience's mindset at both the linguistic and cognitive levels. This direction in their approach is chosen here because such an approach focuses on analysis of the political discourses and examines the linguistic and social mechanism of legitimacy. Data in this study are drawn selectively from the key sections of the 2024 U.S. Republican Party's strategic document and reflect the discourses of the party on economic, foreign policy, and conservative ideologies. The analysis will be informed by Van Dijk's tools, which cover the linguistic, semantic, and cognitive-discursive levels, divided into four stages that provide explicit insight into how the transmission of party ideologies occurs and their effects on audiences.

Findings

The analysis of the 2024 Republican Party strategic document denotes that the party employs all kinds of language and ideologies in developing the attitudes and views of its constituency and legitimizing devised policies. It is divided into four main themes:

Textual Analysis: The entire document contains certain claims and statements interweaved with "America First" and "Return to Traditional Values" to create a nationalistic spirit in the readers. The choice of words and phrases is made very cautiously to show a bright prospect about the nationals.

Policies and Ideologies: The Republican Party is focused on nationalist policy, opposing globalization, with the main emphasis put on restoring industries, security, and criticism against Democratic policies. It portrays Democrats as the cause of instability at home and abroad.

Victims and Villains: Republicans and their leadership are the saviors of the country, while Democrats and countries like China are the threats. The party insists on strengthening alliances with stability in the Middle East, especially as it relates to Israel.

Social and Cultural Context: The strategic document serves as a protection for Democrats through an attempt to present Republicans as the saviors who can return America to greatness through national security and conservative values.

Different Approaches: The present discourse analysis employed here observes the strategic document of the Republican Party from various perspectives. The paper especially emphasizes the continuation of Trump's nationalist and anti-globalization rhetoric, fomenting these policies in view of new circumstances-including tensions with China and security issues. Compared to Democratic texts, the Republican document changes its emphasis from social justice to economic independence and traditional religious values. It appeals to historical notions of American successes against empires, linking past achievements with current challenges, and underscores ideologies like "America First" and patriotism.

Consequences and Implications: This discourse is going to influence public opinion, policy in both the domestic and foreign realms of the U.S., and the dynamic all over the world. This document instills patriotism, which may raise support for rigid economic and security policies, and this could further coalesce the conservative community. Domestically, rigid immigration and economic policy, higher tariffs, as well as cultural or religious restrictions added to the tension between conservative and liberal supporters. Internationally, anti-Chinese posture, extreme support for Israel will flare up middle-eastern and Asian tensions resulting in greater global competition.

Conclusion

The CDA of the strategic document of the Republican Party demonstrates that it aims at underpinning the nationalist and conservative values. According to Gramsci, hegemony is not an implementation achieved by exerting direct power; the Republican Party seeks to gain hegemony by means of cultural and social values. For instance, slogans like "America First" popularize the audience as "national heroes" and make them take conservative values as natural and legitimate principles. The address of the audience as "defenders of the American spirit" in Althusser's theory is done directly by the party, which consolidates national identity and appeals to conservative values. This is a structural attachment intended to be unconscious in the acceptance of these values.

In foreign policy, the emphasis in the document falls on one strongly based on realism through national security and military strength. These policies are aimed at further strengthening the national identity and lessening economic dependence on other countries, which in the optic of Laclau and Mouffe's theory creates an "us versus them" dichotomy and prepares the ground for marshaling public opinion for conservatism. It puts forth, in writing, the idea of traditional values and perhaps resistance to globalization through the Republican Party--standing watch over the nation, protecting American values--and envisioning an ideal society with conservative norms.
